As usual for this time of year we have reached the summer holiday's and like most judo clubs Horndean has closed it's junior class down for the summer break (There will still be some senior training sessions).

After a last session of games involving some inventive strategies for wining by the team leaders we finally got round to presenting the award for best student of the year 2003. This is normally awarded to the student who the instructors feel demonstrates the best understanding of the Zen Judo Family objectives. This includes good hygiene and etiquette on the mat, showing respect to both lower and higher grades and not using unnecessary strength during randori.

It was decided that two students showed these qualities this year and therefore it was decided that a joint award would be made to both. The photo shows Sensei Tracy Marden presenting Kathryn Shinn (orange belt) and Mathew Everett (green belt) with there trophies.
