Latest UKCC letter sent on 28/05/2008 by John Goldman (Campaign leader) to Martin Crick Sports Coach UK.
Martin Crick
sports coach UK
Dear Martin,
The BJA have today published the following:
http://www.britishjudo.org.uk/home/documents/UKCCFAQ.pdf
Is this in response to sports coach UK asking them to publish “full details without delay”?
If so, it falls far short of giving the information we are entitled to and sports coach UK have said they are asking for. The BJA say the question of access for non-BJA people is in ‘draft’ form.
The document also says places awarded on UKCC courses are on a first come first placed basis. Since no arrangements have been finalised for non-BJA people to access the UKCC, non-BJA people are disadvantaged. Equality?
Furthermore it is stated UKCC courses are limited to 16 candidates per course. Couple this with the BJAs published figure of six proposed UKCC courses available up until the end of March 2009, less than 100 people a year will qualify at level 2.
Is that enough to even satisfy the annual demand from within the BJA membership?
The vast majority of judo takes place outside of the BJA involving countless thousands of coaches/teachers. How is it proposed that such vast numbers of people can, subject to any access arrangements, be accommodated on such a thin spread of UKCC courses?
I await news of your meeting with Pat Duffy and a response to the above.
Good wishes,
John Goldman
